Hello! :)

Only a few days left for the first SPJam!
It’s an event like Global Game Jam, but happening only in Sao Paulo.

If you’re gonna participate in SPJam (or any other event of that kind in your town or country), here’s a list of programs and tools we think might be helpful!

This list was taken from the talks we gave at USP (University of Sao Paulo) and FATEC-Americana.

É um evento como o Global Game Jam, mas que vai acontecer só em São Paulo.

Se você for participar do SPJam (ou qualquer outro evento desse tipo na sua cidade ou país), aqui está uma lista de programas e ferramentas que nós achamos que podem ser úteis!

Esta lista foi tirada das palestras que nós demos na USP e na FATEC-Americana.

 

Let’s start with some makers, perfect for a simple game made in 48h:

• Stencyl – for several types of 2D games (free)
• Construct – for several types of 2D games (free)
• Adventure Game Studio (AGS) – for point-and-click games (free)
• Game Maker – for several types of 2D games ($39.99)
• RPG Maker – for RPG games ($59.99)

• SoundDogs – cool sounds and music for good prices

Don’t forget to check the license of the sounds and music you want.

You can see the creation of NoAH (the main character), the making of his animations, and some other assets from Amora’s PC.
From bitmOO’s there’s us brainstorming, a lot of reference research, the making of the spaceship and all the collectible items.

It was so much fun, and we’re hoping SPJam will be just as cool. :) If you live in Sao Paulo or will be there during 18, 19 and 20 of November, don’t think twice and go.
Registrations are open until this Wednesday, November 16th.

Dá pra ver a criação do NoAH (o protagonista), a produção das animações dele e alguns outros assets do PC da Amora.
Do PC da bitmOO tem a gente fazendo brainstorm, bastante pesquisa de referências, a produção da nave e todos os itens colecionáveis.

Foi tão divertido, e estamos esperando que a SPJam será tão legal quanto. :) Se você mora em São Paulo ou estará por lá nos dias 18, 19 e 20 de Novembro, não pense duas vezes e vá.
As inscrições podem ser enviadas até essa quarta-feira, dia 16 de novembro.

One more thing, we really recommend you to watch as many episodes as you can of Extra Credits!
Those guys are amazing, their videos are extremely educational, inspiring and fun to watch.
It’s essential if you work or wanna work with games.

Planetary Plan C remake: Production Diary 1

Hello! Planetary Plan C’s production is going smoothly!
Here you can see how the first planet will look like (it still can change) and the remake of some animations.

Also, we’re planning on putting a lot of new ark spaceships throughout the levels, as parts of the puzzles.

News on Plan C and New Challenger Approaching!

Hello everyone!

We’ve decided to continue the production of our GGJ project, Planetary Plan C!
We are redesigning the game with more puzzles, new hazards and some new mechanics. The visual style and the animations are being revised too, and our amazing composer is already thinking of more musical score. There is also going to be one more level!

The team is pretty much the same that worked together during the Global Game Jam weekend.
*Vini and Felipe weren’t in the game production, but thanks to them (and other friends) we had lunch, dinner and snacks while we worked.

Olá, pessoal!

Nós decidimos continuar com a produção do nosso jogo feito para o GGJ, Planetary Plan C!
Estamos colocando mais puzzles, mais perigos e algumas mecânicas novas. O estilo visual e as animações também estão sendo revisadas, e o nosso incrível compositor já está pensando em novas músicas.
Também queremos colocar uma fase nova!

O time é praticamente o mesmo que trabalhou junto durante o fim-de-semana do Global Game Jam.
*O Vini e o Felipe não participaram da produção do jogo, mas graças a eles (e outros amigos), nós tivemos almoço, janta e lanchinhos enquanto trabalhávamos.

Casual Connect Europe – Travel Log #3

Third day! This was the coolest day, in which happened the showcases of all winning games picked by Gamesauce Challenge! We were quite nervous, but everything worked out just fine. We had about 4 minutes to talk about Planetary Plan C, so it was a really short talk featuring a video everyone enjoyed.

Terceiro dia! Esse foi o mais legal, porque foi o dia das apresentações dos jogos vencedores do Gamesauce Challenge! Ficamos bem nervosos, mas deu tudo certo. Tínhamos em torno de 4 minutos para falarmos sobre o Planetary Plan C, então foi tudo bem resumido e com um videozinho do qual todo mundo gostou.

After the showcases we hanged out there, talking to everyone and checking out the games we hadn’t seen. A lot of people played Plan C!
And so Casual Connect Europe ended! We’ll keep in touch with the new friends we met there, and hopefully we’ll come back other times to this wonderful place Europe is.

Depois das apresentações, a gente ficou por ali, conversando com o pessoal, vendo os jogos que ainda ainda não tínhamos visto etc. Um monte de gente jogou o Plan C!
E assim terminou a Casual Connect Europe! Vamos manter contato com os novos amigos que fizemos lá, e esperamos poder voltar muitas outras vezes a esse lugar maravilhoso que é a Europa.

Casual Connect Europe – Travel Log #2

Bratwurst! Yup, we can’t speak much german, but we already know how to ask for some bratwurst, and it’s really good!
The second day of Casual Connect was great, we spent a lot of time in the company of Randall, Jonathan and Laurens. Fantastic guys! Cool people indeed! And their games are brilliant! We also spent a lot of time with Bruno, who has been our responsible grown-up! What a wonderful person! He organized the Curitiba Global Game Jam site, allowed MiniBoss to join them virtually because we couldn’t afford traveling all the way there, and still helped us getting sponsorhip for one of our airline tickets. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! We are also very thankful to Fabio V. Binder and Vinicius Godoy!

Bratwurst! É, a gente não consegue dizer muita coisa em alemão, mas já sabemos pedir a tal da bratwurst, e é bom demais!

O segundo dia da Casual Connect foi ótimo, nós andamos bastante com o Randall, o Jonathan e o Laurens. Caras fantásticos! Muito legais mesmo! E seus jogos são geniais! Também passamos bastante tempo com o Bruno, ele tem sido nosso adulto responsável! Que pessoa maravilhosa! Organizou o Global Game Jam lá da PUC de Curitiba, deixou a MiniBoss participar virtualmente porque a gente não tinha dinheiro pra ir até lá, e ainda conseguiu que uma das passagens para essa viagem fosse paga. Um obrigado de todo nosso coração! Também agradecemos muito o Fabio V. Binder e o Vinicius Godoy!

The place where Casual Connect was hosted was very elegant, wide and beautiful. It’s called CCH – Congress Center Hamburg, and it’s part of Radisson Hotel (and it’s also very chic!). There is a train station full of cozy places nearby, and we visited them very often during the event.
We ate the famous apfelstrudel and drank lots of coffee!
At night, we went to Down Under, a delicious australian restaurant! We had chicken wings until we couldn’t eat anymore.

O lugar onde foi a Casual Connect era muito elegante, grande e bonito. Chama CCH – Congress Center Hamburg, e é junto com o hotel Radisson (muito chique também!). Pertinho de lá tem uma estaçao de trem cheia de lugarezinhos gostosos, fomos bastante durante o evento.
Comemos o famoso apfelstrudel e tomamos muito café!
À noite, fomos ao Down Under, que é um restaurante australiano delicioso! Comemos chicken wings até não aguentarmos mais.
